Allow Submissions After the Due Date
If set to yes, students will be able to submit to the assignment after the due date if they have not previously made a submission.
Generate Originality Report for Submissions
If set to Yes, Turnitin will automatically generate an originality report for the student submission. TLP recommends setting this to Yes.
If you want students submit multiple drafts without overwriting the previous drafts, create a "Revision assignment." Revision assignments are duplicates of the "parent" assignment's advanced options and standard settings, but may have new start, due, and post dates. The revision assignment may have a different Generate Originality Reports for student submissions setting. The instructor may also select a different set of optional special instructions, or assign a different point value. For more information, see Revision Assignment on the Turnitin website.
Generate Originality Report for Student Submissions
- Immediately first report is final
- Immediately (can overwrite reports until due date) - allows students to continuously resubmit papers to the assignment until the due date. It may take up to 24 hours to process originality reports for resubmissions. Only the latest submission is available to the instructor or student. Previous versions are removed.
- On due date - will make it so all papers submitted to the assignment will be compared against each other when the originality reports are created
For most instances, TLP recommends choosing the option to "Generate originality reports immediately (can overwrite reports until the due date)
Exclude bibliographic materials from Similarity Index for all papers in this assignment
Excludes text included in the bibliography, works cited, or references section from being checked for matches when generating originality reports.
Exclude quoted materials from Similarity Index for all papers in this assignment
Excludes text included in quotes from being checked for matches.
Exclude small matches
Excludes matches of insignificant length from being considered when generating an originality report. Options include number of words or percent.
The percentage is calculated by taking the number of words in the match, and dividing it by the number of words in the document (for example, a 10 word match in a 500 word paper = 2% match). Or you may have the system exclude small matches by number of matched words. For example, if you enter 15 words, then the system will exclude any matches less than 15 words.
Allow students to see Originality Reports
Select No only if this is a draft assignment. Most instructors choose to have students see the Originality Report.
|Enable Translated Matching (Beta)||Translated Matching allows students to submit papers with non-English content. Enabling Translated Matching allows Turnitin to identify the language of a paper and translate the paper into English. The English translation is then matched against the English databases. If a match is found, this will be displayed alongside any matches we have found in the non-translated version of the paper.|
Reveal grades to students only on post date
This means that if you grade a paper several days before the post date students will have to wait until the post date to see the grade.
After the post date, students will be able to access both grade and feedback from you through the GradeMark icon.
Known Issue: This setting currently does not work correctly. If you choose "No" you must still manually set the Post Date to the date you want students to be able to see feedback. Typically, this is often immediately after the due date.
Enable anonymous marking?
Allows instructor to select whether to obscure student names in the Assignment Inbox, Originality Report and Grademark until the assignment's post date.
Submit papers to
Selecting standard repository adds the student paper to the Turnitin database of submissions.
Select No if this is a draft assignment and you do not want the paper added to the repository.
The similarity index percentage may decrease if you deselect any of the repositories.
