Release and Renew an IP address in Windows 7

Summary
This article illustrates how to release and renew a network address in Windows 7

Steps

Open the Command Line Interface

Click on the Start Menu

Type "cmd" in the search box. The entry for the Command Prompt should now be visible. Left-click on it to open it up.

Release Your IP Address

Type ipconfig /release in the command window and press Enter.

Your results should display as above. Titled Windows IP Configuration.

Once the IP has been released, a new one can be obtained.

Renew Your IP Address

Type in ipconfig /renew and press Enter.

Your results will display as below, with the title Windows IP Configuration.
