Through an IP Address

Some Dell and HP printers on campus can be access through a web browser by IP address.  Simply type the IP address into your internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.), hit enter, and you should be able to access a variety of printer information including ink levels, pages printed, as well as the option to print a configuration page.

To determine your printers IP address on a PC:

Go to your Start menu, access your Control Panels, and open up Printers and Faxes.  When the printers and faxes window opens, double-click on your printer to open up the network printer queue.  Now go the File menu and select Properties.  By selecting the Ports tab in the Properties window, you'll see the printer port listed by IP address.  You may have to expand the column to see the whole address.  It should follow the "132.241.xxx.xxx" format.  E.g. 132.241.222.43.
