Eduroam - Secure Wireless Network Access

Eduroam Secure Wireless Overview

Eduroam is the network providing secure wireless connectivity to the CSU, Chico campus community, and is available to all students, faculty, and staff. This wireless network not only offers enhanced security, but ease of use as well – once your device is configured for Eduroam, it will automatically connect to the network when in range – no more login pages!

In addition to providing secure wireless access while on the CSU, Chico campus, our Eduroam network is part of a world-wide roaming access federation, providing seamless, secure guest network access at thousands of participating partner universities world-wide. Meaning, your device will work on their campuses the same as if it were on CSU, Chico's.

Eduroam also provides:

  • More security - Eduroam uses WPA2-enterprise authentication and encryption to prevent eavesdropping when using insecure applications on the network.
  • Automatic login - once you've logged on to the network successfully, your device will be configured for the new network and won't ask for your credentials until your next password change.
  • CSU, Chico has joined the Eduroam federation - an enormous group made up of thousands of universities and higher-education institutions across 54 countries. These institutions have the Eduroam network at their locations and will grant you secure access to their network without having to go through the long process of setting up a guest login and password. Your device will work on their campuses the same as if it were on CSU, Chico's.
